Abstract

Unlike what has happened with other branches of knowledge, particularly the so-called basic sciences, which throughout their evolution have produced spectacular, dramatic events that have greatly impacted the opinions of both laypeople and specialists, the social sciences, and particularly business administration, have emerged and evolved along less visible paths and, in some periods, even excluded the spaces defined and jealously reserved for the selective "scientific endeavor."
This is most likely due to circumstantial perspectives, including the different, and in many cases divergent, orientations that intellectual leaders have established at different times, within the framework of the multiple attempts to explain and master nature.
