Abstract
In the last two years or so, about 50 French managers have had the opportunity to become business owners thanks to a government-funded, unsecured personal loan program.
These loans, called "préts d'honneur" in French, were granted to those judged to possess entrepreneurial talent and who pledged to rescue struggling manufacturing firms with a maximum payroll of 500 employees from bankruptcy.
