Abstract
From Charles Darwin's "On the Origin of the Species" (1859) and "The Rest of Man" (1871), Thomas Henry Huxley's "Evolution and Ethics" (1893), the writings of Heinrich von Treitschke, and Houston Stewart Chamberlain's "The Foundations of the Nineteenth Century" (1899), combined with the work of Alfred Russel Wallace, we are presented with a social-scientific landscape in which evolution exists as the governing force of life.
