Postpartum Service Quality: Validation of a Multidimensional Model
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this article is to validate a multidimensional model for evaluating postpartum maternal service quality in public hospitals in Hidalgo, Mexico. A mixed-methods approach with an exploratory sequential design (DEXPLOS) was used: the qualitative phase identified six dimensions and supported the construction of a 24-item instrument; the quantitative phase included content validity, internal consistency, EFA, CFA, and multiple regression. The results show a confirmatory factorial model with adequate fit (CFI = 0.938; RMSEA = 0.066). The findings indicate that multiple regression explained 85.6% of the variance in perceived quality, with higher coefficients for emotional support, communication, and warning-sign education. The originality lies in providing a validated model to evaluate postpartum care and guide technological innovation strategies centered on the patient’s experience. Limitations include non-probability sampling and application in a single Mexican state.
